Microclimate

Located almost 100 km from the Atlantic, the Monbazillac appellation (AOC) enjoys a combination of subtle oceanic and marked weather conditions.

Winter is generally short and rarely harsh. Precipitation is abundant in the Spring favoring the vines' early growth. Summer can be hot while Autumn is generally extended and sunny, lasting until mid-november.

In conclusion Monbazillac's microclimate is unique and unrivaled for the production of naturally sweet wine. With its foggy mornings (average of 55 days a year) followed by sunny afternoons, Autumn indeed provides favorable conditions for the microscopic fungus  Botrytis cinerea or noble rot.
